i'm a newbie here, so please be gentle if i ask stupid mistake. i tried reading the documentation, but it doesn't really help.
i'm trying to debug a project in a 3rd party server, let's call this server X.
server X has tons of subdirectory in it. if i create a share folder mapping in server X, and include this in my php project in PHPed, it takes VERY long time for PHPed to loop through each individual subfolders/files.

so what i want is,
i want to have a local copy of those files from server X in local machine, and sync them as necessary.

how do i do this without having to create FTP?
i'd prefer to be able to work directly on files in Server X, but it's taking too much time.

This thread may (or may not) explain the slowness you are experiencing: constantly-scanning-t6043.html

Your only options in PhpED for editing locally and syncing to your server would be via FTP (which you don't want) or SFTP (requires SSH access). I guess you could write a little batch file to sync with XCOPY or ROBOCOPY as needed outside of PhpED.
