How to setup PhpED if PHP is already installed?

Hello.

I have installed a local webserver test environment with Apache 2.2.4, PHP 5.22, MySQL 5.0.41 and PhpMyAdmin 2.10.1. Now I want to install PhpED 5.0 on top of that. But as far as I remember from the trial version of PhpED the setup routine asks me whether to install PHP4 or PHP5 or both. Is there a way to skip the PHP installation at this point and use the existing PHP 5.22 installation instead?

Best regards,
Dietmar

In the meantime I've found a simular topic here:
Install phped and leave current php and apache intact

However I don't fully understand the story behind it.
If there are multiple versions of PHP installed on a single machine - which one will be used?
And do I have to configure PhpED accordingly?

Is this the answer? => http://php.devreview.com/switching-multiple-php-versions-apache-on-windows

PhpED supports "Run Mode" selector that let you select what to work with.
You can work with embedded web server that comes with PhpED (recommended for beginners) or 3rd party web server like in your case.

NOTE: apache 2.2.4 is a broken version and I do not recommend you to work with it, the same goes for php 5.2.2. If you need a good combination, I'd recommend 2.2.3 and 5.2.1.

Dmitri ... why do You think that 5.2.2 is broken ?

Apache 2.2.4 I can confirm is broken.

And so I think there are no reasons to configuring PhpED specially for existing local server, becouse You can simply use vhost and 3rd party server.

And other case. If You You use phpmyadmin only for Yourself, remove it from public allow. And if You wanna use very good mysql client, go to navicat.com ... I use it and it is one of best. Ive been using phpmyadmin until ive lost encoding on one of my database (and I've lost few hard days for restoring data).

I would like to release 5.2.3 RC1 this coming thursday and follow it
with a final release a week or two weeks after that depending on how
well RC1 is received. This release is done a bit sooner then
anticipated to address HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA regression introduced in
5.2.2 as well as to deal with a few security issues discovered and
resolved since the last release. If you have any pending patches
please try to get them in before Thursday evening (eastern time).

Ilia Alshanetsky
5.2 Release Master.
