do you have .bashrc or .profile in your home?
if you do, just add export with correct locale strings. They must be utf-8 in order to use utf-8. |

it's not "my fix"
![]() but if you need russian or french, you'd set ru_RU.UTF-8 and fr_FR.UTF-8 respectively. |

Ok, I've done just that for the french encoding, but it still doesn't work in the PhpEd terminal window, while terminals running under X-Windows on the linux box show accented chars fine
