I have several projects which I test locally and are also online at a production environment. I have this bad habbit of accidentally control-shift-s'ing when I'm not supposed to do that So I often accidentally put some testing stuff on the production server.

I 'solved' this by changing the top publishing directory into something non-existant. This way I'll just get an error. The ideal solution would be to disable uploads with a short-cut and re-enable it with the same short-cut.

you may want to create two projects in one workspace. 1st pointing to production server, 2nd w/o publishing account at all, both will have the same project root directory. Whenever you need to stop yourself from uploading you just make 2nd project active, otherwise the 1st one.
