I see that you can use the | to place the cursor in a template.
In some program editors - MultiEdit for example, you can enter meta codes in templates - file headers, class headers, etc,. that automatically fill in dates, author, copywright, etc.
Is there anything like that available in PHPed?

consider using CVS or SVN, there you have all the infos you want, just insert /* $Id$ */
