In the search in files dialog, add a selection alongside "project" / "open files" / "directory" for "current file".

This would be great, since the interface for the "search in files" function which does list in the search window all the occurrences is VERY useful, and MUCH MORE useful that the single "search" interface...

Bumping up, this would be a very useful feature, and it should be simple to implement...

There is even already space in th ui for another option alongside existing ones!

Maybe you mean this .. directories can be excluded from search:

If I understand correctly, you know that the feature itself works fine — you just want a shorter path to access it?

Right now, the process is: Right-click the file tab -> Locate in Workspace -> navigate upward to its directory -> right-click on the folder -> Search (or Replace) in Files
