Purchasing NuSphere questions.

I think I am about ready to spend my money on NuSphere and uninstalling Zend Studio IDE and Server forever.

However, I have a few more questions:

1. NuSphere PhpED 4.0 Advantage for Windows with 1 year technical support and free upgrades. Does this mean I don't get any technical support if I don't purchase this option?

Plus, how many free upgrades are released during the year on average?

This is extremely important to understand.

2. If I buy a NuSphere license, do I have accessability to both the Windows and Linux versions or am I able to just use the license for the Windows version only?

3. Maintenance Renewal: As I understand, Maintenance Renewal is for Advantage customers only.

What if I don't start as an Advantage customer, but want to become an Advantage customer later?

What are the steps and costs involved?

4. As mentioned in a different thread, how do I qualify for a competitive upgrade and who do I contact?

"I don't know if it's good practice or not, but for example I'd definitely ask Borland to provide me _additional_ discount if I switch from Microsoft"

Thanks,

I received an email from NuSphere today entitled "Following up on your PhpED evaluation".

From "no-reply@nusphere.com".

The email read as:

"Dear <my name>,

The following information and links may help you in your evaluation process.

My question is when it says "Please feel free to contact me on any questions regarding PhpED." - how *DO* I contact that sales rep.?

There is no contact information such as an email or phone number for that person.

Shocked

Thanks,

First of all, my appologies for mistakes in the email you received. Looks somebody incorrectly updated robot's stuff. We do not offer additional licenses for $50. It was stopped almost half a year ago.

To contact sales dept, feel free to submit with Contact Us form:

Support for Advantage customers provided both by email and through this forum. In first case they get prioritized support. It does not mean that others do not get support at all. Look at this forum. More than half are posts from our customers. Email-based support is provided too but according to the order we receive them while Advantage's requests are processed first, anyway.

If you buy PhpED for Windows, you get access to PHPED for Windows. If you bue PhpED for Linux, you get access to PHPED for Linux. They are separated products. If you need both, contact sales for appropriate discount.

Right. Advantage licenses should be considered as subscription to all our releases of purchased product for the specified period and this period may be prolonged. Regarding regular licensee, they can get all updates for the purchased version for free. All major releases won't be available to them until they purchase upgrade.

I would still greatly appreciate it if someone would take the time to answer question 4.

"As mentioned in a different thread, how do I qualify for a competitive upgrade and who do I contact?"

Thanks,

I told you what I would do if I was migrating from one software vendor to another. This forum board is for tech/support related questions and other things and this one in particular you'd discuss with Sales or Customer Care Dept. You may want to submit your inquiry there http://shop.nusphere.com/contact_us/index.php
