I just installed a trial version of PHPEd, and have a problem in running phpMyAdmin. The error I get is the following:

phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in config.inc.php and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server.

The Apache server is running, but I have a feeling that mySQL is not. How can I check this? How do I start it?

TechPlatform 3.2 and higher does not contain any SQL server.
You may try out our SQL server namely UltraSQL or install other SQL server downloaded from the respective vendor site.

I do have a new question then. How do I run phpMyAdmin?

All of our applications use mySQL. No way out of that.

What I installed is version 3.1, and in the Apache folder, it does create a mySQL folder, so I was expecting to find a mySQL server.

sorry, we do not provide any kind of support for mySQL nor any other 3rd party SQL servers or software like phpmyadmin.
Please take a look at their readme files and manuals.
