Problem connecting on SME 7 (bsed on centos/RHEL)

I have no problems (currently!) setting up phpED debugging on Ubuntu, it works lovely. But I have a client site with SME7, whish is a distro based on Centps/RHEL (I think).
I have dbg.so installed in extensions, and the debugger entries in php.ini (proven by altering values and restarting apache - changes seen in phpinfo results), and I have the client installed on a W2K server machine.
When I attempt to debug I get the "connection not allowed" error (-100), but I can successfully telnet on port 7869 from the server (10.10.1.6) to the client (10.10.1.9), so its not a communications fault. Normally this would be because I dont have 10.10.1.9 in the debugger.hosts_allow setting, but this is definately correct (even though phpinfo usefully refuses to show this as its protected)

Any ideas what to try next ?

David

connection not allowed means that it is not allowed in debugger settings in php.ini. You need to allow that IP/hostname.

see my original post - the phpED client 10.10.1.9 is the ONLY allowed IP in debugger.hosts_allow, which is why I am a) confused and b) posting here !

please check the message again to see what IP it lists and double check if this IP is in the debugger.hosts_allow and the setting itself is spelt correct and appears below extension=dbg.so line.
