PhpEd Update does not open default browser - only uses IE.

Every time I get a notification that there's a new version of PhpEd, the button on the notification to open the NuSphere page always opens IE.

While Firefox is my default browser, I often have a small IE window open for status notifications. The update button loads the NuSphere page into this small window... which removes the notifications I need, as well as being too small to use properly for a regular website.

PhpEd should respect the default browser, not always use IE!

sure, we do respect all browsers Smile.
Unfortunately, only two of them have open API that would allow us to implement a plugin (toolbar) and we implemented this plugin for only one of the two, yet.

hmm, I'm sure I replied to this thread before.

To reiterate: currently, PhpEd only opens IE when clicking on the "location" button in the "New version" dialog. This is despite having FireFox set as my default browser on my PC.

This is not the usual behaviour, almost every other program out there uses the default browser, not just IE.

To make matters worse, when PhpEd launches the URL, it uses the last opened IE window, which in my case is often a small IE window that can't be resized (it's used for status display). This means that the NuSphere site is opened into this window, which replaces the previous content & the window can't be resized. This is unacceptable.

Cameron.

I'm not sure what "New version" you're referring to. PhpED has no dialogs with this name.
A screenshot would be helpful.

PhpED has no way to choose anything like that. It may ask Windows SHELL to open a URL and it's a SHELL decision what browser to use and it's a BROWSER decision to use one of its windows.

Well, until you release the next version & I get the notification of a new version, I can't do that (unless I install a previous version over the current one). I simply meant it's the window that announces that there is a new version available to download.

Hmm, if that's the case then the behaviour is weird as I have not had this behaviour with any other program that launches the default browser. Maybe you could be willing to test how you are opening new browser windows using a default browser that is not IE. I would assume that the Shell would open an URL the same as it does for a bookmark file.

The only time I have ever received a notification about a new version of PhpEd is when I open IE and I get a notice about a new version of the debug toolbar. But I've never seen a notification from within PhpED about their being a new version. though that would be nice.

*smacks head* Now that you mention it I did notice that... Thought that PhpED was using IE as the browser to check through!

Ok, so the "problem" is with the IE toolbar - in which case I guess it's not really a problem then.
