This is an odd one.

If I have a file open in PHPEd (I'm on version 5 for Windows, build 5025) and I cut some text from, say, a web page and then paste it into a PHPEd XML suffixed file (doesn't seem to occur with other file suffixes) and then type and open angled bracket (ie. '<'), PHPEd just locks out as if it's gone into a loop. I can only get it back by by cancelling the app via TM and restarting.

Now, to qualify this further, I think it only happens if there are special characters in the original text I cut. Although it still happens even if - after I paste - I get rid of the special characters before typing the open angled bracket.

It is odder still.

Let's say this is my text:



I could get an <li> tag at the start of that if I typed the close angle bracket first, by going through a sequence like this:



then ..



But the problem occurs whenever I try to use the open angle bracket first.

The application locks out with an hour glass cursor ... I've waited as long as 10 minutes before cancelling and it hasn't come back to me in that time.

I'm sorry for the problems with XML files.
It will be fixed in the forthcoming build #5026
