Hi,
My company is looking for a good PHP environment....
I've said that phpED is more then good....

So the test begun.

And We found 2 problems disqualifying use of PHPED:

1) Sometimes when editing in HTML mode in a *.tpl files when programmer open a tag with < phpED hangs and there's nothing to do with it.

2) When uploading files with CTRL+SHIFT+S then after some hours of work the FTP connection is corrupted.... netstat shows that many connections are open and not closed even after closing program....

We need to choose the PHP env till the end of october.... maybe some clues ? I really do like phpED but it can't do those two things....

Hope to hear from ya guys fast....

the version we evaluate is Build 4.033eval

It's known issue and has already been fixed in build 4035. Please note, hotfixed version is available to our customers only.

Such corruptions and non-closed connections might be caused by 3rd party networking software like Norton Personal Firewall, NIS etc.
PhpED has very little to do with it. Connections can't be left opened by the IDE.

Regarding number of connections.
PHPED may open only one connection for uploading/downloading, only one connection for Open File dialog and only one connection for Explorer window.

check Out my netstat view....
those are connections set only by phpED...
In most cases there are 5-10 of them on each PC - we are testing at 4 machines right now....

after closing PHPED thing gets better... but after couple of hours is bad back again.....

Regarding number of connections:
try out netstat with -naop command line option and check if PID shown corresponds to PHPED process.

Regarding corruption,
a) make sure you have the latest SP installed,
b) try to stop 3rd party networking software (if any)

run task manager, View->Select Columns, enable PID (process identifier), press OK,
select Processes tab, sort by Image name, select PHPED and see its PID value Smile

netstat with -naop
Doesnt show a thing....

BTW> PhpEd started to show "Maximum Connection Exceeded"

Other FTP clients don't do that and we can work with them....
but in the current state PhpEd blocks other ftp clients from accessing the server and even block itself...

Maximum Connection Exceeded

This message may not be caused by the IDE.
It's from your FTP server.

netstat -naop TCP
