PHP Session variable not resetting on close of browser

I am debugging within PHPED using external local server, in windows XP. PHPED Settings are to use php 5.3.
I have a number of $_session variables set, and I stop the debug session and close the browser(IE8), and then open a new browser window, go to the local webpage, session debug begins, and as soon as a session_start() is issued all the values are back. None have been set by current execution at this point. I have checked all the php.ini for session auto start and lifetime options set to the default 0 values. I checked the php.ini I point to in Tools section of settings, as well as in the PHPED php directories.

So, do I have a setting wrong or is somehow the PHP IDE saving session variables? Closing and reopening the IDE does not help.

I have just noticed that The PHPSSID session cookie is staying the same, regardless of new browser sessions.

Thanks

Bob

It appears that at least with IE8(I will do more testing), the problem is with multiple browser windows(not Tabs) open. The session is not being reset when I close the browser window I was using, if there is another brower window open. All browsers windows(ie Cool must be closed.

If anyone can shed light if this is a change with IE8, or PHP 5.3 or has always been the case(I don't think so) I would appreciate it.
Thanks
