Maintenance Renewal - at a later point?

Hi,

My PhpED Pro contract is about to expire soon, and I received a message regarding maintenance renewal. Alas, I am currently a little short of cash, so my question is: Is it possible to renew at a later point? I saw in my members login that there was a link called "If your maintenance contract has expired, please contact us to request the renewal." Is this where I could go sometime in the future if I want to renew my contract? Are there any penalties? What can I say... PhpEd is a wonderful product and I wanted to continue supporting it. If these weren't so difficult times... Sad
