It's a kind of trivial thing to use. Say you have 4 modules and 100 lines of code in each. When you click on lines by moduels, you will see those 4 modules and those 100 lines in them, each with its own timing. Lines by routines works similarly but at the functions/methods level.
Info you need to take into account is number of hits and time spent on the line, the less both the least attention you need to pay.
