how to set up debug over ssh tunnel using Bitvise Tunnelier |
|
A super simple, clean, terrific ssh tunnel client for windows is Bitvise Tunnelier. The docs I saw on here were a) from 2004 and b) recommending CYGWIN, so I thought I'd update and offer [what to me is] an easier solution.
Dmitri's steps are still the same, but instead of step 3 where you fire up your ssh console and punch in that cmd, do the following in Tunnelier: - set up a basic connection to your remote server - click the Server to Client (S2C) tab - click Add (or dbl-click a blank entry) - enabled, 127.0.0.1, 7869, localhost, 7869[, php debugger] - Save Profile - Click Login You'll need to connect this ssh client just like any other before attempting when debugging. To test: click: Start>>Run "cmd"[enter] type: telnet localhost 7869[enter] You should see the little green arrow appear in the system tray Satellite icon as expected. bitvise offers: - simple setup - intuitive gui (no cmd line req'd) - toolbox of sftp client, ssh client, remote desktop built-in - very clear logging/log window - pretty icons hth[/url] |

I've been using Tunnelier for a couple of years now and also found it great.
The terminal has some convenient features, somewhat similar to a Windows Command window. The SFTP functionality is basic but convenient. For new sites I now zip-up the files, use Tunnelier to SFTP the archive to the site, then use terminal to unzip and set permissions. Takes about 5 minutes to transfer a site that would take over 2 hours by FTP. |
