Normally, upload/download are used when you have finished your work and want to publish the results or sync your workstation with server.
If I get your post right, the developers are supposed to use upload/download each time they want to run anything during their development. This indeed a time consuming thing. If your developers have space on the server, you can use it directly by opening corresponding number of directory shares, or vice versa -- let them share their disks with Apache instances on the server. In this case they won't need to use upload/download for every single bit of work. Obviously, depending on where you decide to keep the files, you'll have to run GIT client on the server or on the workstations. In former case, deverlopers will use either browsers or server console to run git commands on the server. |
