I'd love it if the IDE automatically hid the pointer while typing, and then showed it again as soon as the mouse is touched.

I believe that's a system level event.

Check in your windows Mouse control panel -> Pointer Options -> Hide pointer while typing.

It's never worked for me, but worth a try.

Hmm, you're right. And I already had the option on. Unfortunately, it seems to have no effect. The only place where the mouse hides is in renaming files in Explorer - and then it's terribly broken. (It starts off showing, then hides after two characters, then shows and stays showing after two more.)

I'm on XP SP 2 with a Logitech mouse but using the built-in mouse driver. If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears.

With a little further testing, it seems to work very reliably in some applications, like Notepad, Word, and SecureCRT, so it seems to be related somehow to what a specific application does. Is there something PhpED can do to support this feature of the OS?

Ummm, good point - I must spend too much time in editors, as UltraEdit doesn't hide the cursor either although my Office apps handle it properly.

Great suggestion!
