ftp passive mode can't connect on windows 8.1 machine |

Have you done an FTP test with any firewalls turned off? An application firewall (eg Windows Firewall) could potentially block PhpED but not other FTP applications.
My Windows 8.1 has an Outbound Rule for NuSphere PhpED Embedded browser, which is a bit of a misleading name because the rule actually allows PhpED.exe to connect using any protocol or port, not just browser ports. PhpED would normally add that rule to Windows Firewall for you, but wouldn't know about third-party firewalls. If your firewall is missing that rule, it could cause this problem. |

Yes I tried turning off the firewall, actually that's the first one I tried 'coz on some apps that's one of the most common culprits but to no avail.
Yes I also tried adding rules aside from the default one added by nusphere itself.... phped seems ok on my previous OS like xp, vista and win 8 for ftp but not with 8.1 btw, on what OS are you running your phped? |

Currently I am regularly using PhpED on Windows 8.1, 7 and Server 2003.
What antivirus product do you use and does that have any port filtering capabilities? What build of PhpED are you using? |

If you mean it's not listening, then I have to say that's expected to be non-listening. It's server has to listen on the ports. In passive mode FTP client uses 2 ports -- first is FTP control connection that opens on TCP/21 port. It's where all the commands are sent to the server and statuses returned back. 2nd port is assigned by the server dynamically individually for each transfter. So if you disabled "all" rule in the firewall and left only TCP/21 port enabled, data connection will be most definitely blocked and trasfer won't start. |
