FTP accounts

Hi,

Project files can be saved to a shared disk. Our developers do that because they can share projects that way.
FTP accounts however can not be saved to a shared disk.

Is there any way to share ftp accounts with other developers so you don't have to set up an ftp account for every project again?

Thanks!

you can't share only one subset of settings. If you want to share settings (configuration files), you may want to update PhpED's HOME directory to point to the shared disk. See Home entry in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NuSphere\PhpED5.0\

Thanks!

It seems to be a good fix for sharing FTP accounts and such. But this also means layout.cfg, styles, etc are all shared?
My collegues would like to have their own layout and colorcoding.

Is that possible?

no Smile,
just copy accounts.cfg among all computers or try NT symlinks (MS advertives that it supports symlinks for NTFS but I'm not sure if they work across the network)

OK, thanks, I'll look into symlinks.
Sharing accounts could be a feature request. It's great that you can share projects, but you get errors when you don't have an account listed in the project.
Would be great to have an option to save it to a netword drive.

An other option would be to make the accounts.cfg dynamic (with PHP for example I can query all the data from a database). I can do that but I don't know what encoding is used for the passwords.

Thanks again Smile

Symlinks are not possible.
Is the encoding for ftp passwords a common used encoding? It looks like base64 with some sort of salt.

did you check this? http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/fsutil_hardlink.mspx?mfr=true

As of the passwords, I'm sorry we won't disclosure the algorithms used.

Hardlinks only work at a local drive. Network drives are not supported.

If you have all the files you work with on a shared disk, you may want to point the project root to this directory and work with files directly without any ftp.
If you share only settings and need to use ftp, why not to have a master copy of accounts.cfg somewhere on the shared disk and ask all developers to keep their local accounts.cfg in sync with it?
