drag selecting text highlighting

I was wondering if anyone could direct me to the setting that would make the text highlighting when dragging your mouse not try to be "smart". Its being all Word 2007 on me and going to like special characters that it thinks I want to select. Overall its jsut being a bitch. I just want my selection to be where my cursor is.

If you have "Extended Select" enabled the IDE attempts to select entire words.
You can find it in the options under Editor > Editor Settings (top right checkmark)
Perhaps that will solve your problem?
