I do understand what you mean... Sometimes I want to copy the variable name sans the dollar sign to (e.g. copy a variable name and paste it as a key name in an array) and then find selecting the text a bit cumbersome. However, when I do want to copy the variable with the dollar sign (as I often do) I feel the current double-click behaviour is just perfect. I guess I prefer the current behaviour, and do not know of an easy (double-click) way around it
