Debian 4 with PHP5.2 will not load the debugger.

I must have missed something, so please help me out!

The installation is from standard Debian packages:
Apache/2.2.3 (Debian) PHP/5.2.0-8+etch10

php.ini is:
/etc/php5/apache2/php.ini

All other PHP extensions work from the same defined extensions directory:
/usr/lib/php5/20060613+lfs

dbg-wizard gives the following:
Copy dbg.so-5.2.x located in the tarball in <PhpED install path>\debugger\server\Linux\ into /usr/lib/php5/20060613+lfs on your server
Add the following lines to /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini
extension=dbg.so-5.2.x
[debugger]
debugger.hosts_allow= 192.168.1.30 localhost
debugger.hosts_deny=ALL
debugger.ports=7869, 10000/16

dbg.so-5.2.x module is from Nusphere distribution:
dbg-3.2.12-Linux-glibc-2.7.tar.gz

The module works perfectly in an Ubuntu 7.10 Server installed on the same platform

The server starts normally with PHP5 and all other enabled extensions.

So far, so normal - I have done this hundreds of times on various Windows platforms and Linux servers I've compiled form source, but this is the first time I've tried a packaged Linux installation - and it doesn't work. As soon as the dbg module is in the extensions directory, the server will not start. Remove the module, and it's fine.

This is irritating - what have I missed please?

Please check system requirements listed in readme that is in <PhpED install path>\debugger\server\ directory

Thanks for the prompt reply - glibc >= 2.2 version works of course - my Debian 4 is 2.3.6. I've got used to it working every time, so I didn't check my exact actions properly. Sorry for irritating you!
