Hi there,

i just installed PhpED 5.2 eval and trying to get CVS functionality running on a WinXP machine.
This machine is already configured with Apache/MySQL/PHP 5.2.4 and CVSNT 2.5.03 and running just fine (since years)
I created a project and under properties/project/source control i choose 'CVS'. On CVS tab i selected 'local' as method and added the correct repository and module.
So now i am able to use right click CVS menu and am able to commit modified files etc.
BUT i donĀ“t see any overlaying icons which show me the status of file.

We worked with UEStudio (has CVS support too) before and there i was able to see icons.

Even when using the cvs.exe that was shipped with PhpED there is no difference.

any help/suggestions?

thx in advance

@ bitseeker,

Just gone through the CVS setup in 5.2 myself. The internal CVS mechanism (...\nusphere\phped\CCvs\cvs.exe) does not implement icon overlays. It works but I really wanted the icons so I resolved it as follows:
    1. Switch off Source Control (in the Project Properties)
    2. Install TortoiseCVS (www.tortoisecvs.org) - I hope you don't mind the "plug" Dmitri, but I'm unrelated to Tortoise
    3. Tune TortoiseCVS to only work with your dev sandboxes (i.e. your PhpED project root directory) - this saves resources and makes it faster
    4. You might need to restart PhpED to see the icons, I don't remember.

You will find the CVS context menu in "Shell Menu".

Hope this helps.

thanx gwerf,

i installed tortoisecvs and icons show up now ;o)

What app do you use for Diff? We where using WinCVS all the time, but now that CVS is integrated in PhpED, WinCVS is some kind of obsolete..

Servus bitseeker,

You could try WinMerge. I used it before activating CVS and it does the job. Interesting to see that the WinMerge installer (as opposed to the zip version) was aware of TortoiseCVS and will integrate itself for you (if you allow it).

MfG.

tortoise comes with their greatest diff tool. I believe it is much better than WinMerge if for example you need to merge changes from one branch to another.
