About a standalone, home-made MySQL Server, I followed some forum threads about it, it seems possible but
there are licence problem ? Any url or previous experience to point at ? Rolling Eyes

generally speaking you'd surf mysql site for the info and/or inspect files you downloaded from them. In particular license.txt or somehting like this would be enough.
It's my understanding that you can't distribute their products starting with version 4.1 as a part of your commercial software until you purchase their commercial licenses.
