Wired & Very Anoying Error Message

I keep getting the following message when codeing some php scripts. "Format '%)' invalid or incompatable with argument" in a alert box which grabs focus. This means that when coding and this pops up it can be the most anoying thing ever! Please Help! The syntax of the script seems fine so no sure why its doing it!
