I thought that the only thing that NuSphere did to IE was install a toolbar for changing the debug mode; essentially it changes cookies. I'd be surprised if your problem was caused by PhpED.
Check your faulty IE has not had its rendering mode changed; easy to do (sometimes too easy). There are 2 places to check rendering mode: 1. The too easy one: Some websites will show an icon next to the refresh button, which looks like a broken page. When it is blue, it is in compatibility mode and changes how pages are rendered. Some pages will break according to whether than is on (blue) or off (gray), although off generally is the normal setting. Some web sites do not display a compatibility button, but it is still possible to put a site into compatibility mode without that button. You can also go into Compaitiblity View settings to review web sites. 2. The easy to miss one: Also go into the browser rendering defaults by pressing F12 Developer Tools. In IE 11 the look of those tools changed quite a bit and no longer have a top menu, so scroll to the bottom of the left side menu and you will hopefully find an Emulation button. The default settings for that are Document mode Edge (Default) and that is the most likely one to cause a rendering issue, Browser profile Desktop and User Agent String Default. Unless debugging, you should probably be using the defaults. Make sure both your working and non-working browser are using the same settings. |

If it was phped or its toolbar, uninstall would "fix" the problem. If it didn't, it's definitely not caused by phped.
Perhaps, you got a silent Windows Update installed in the background in the same time period when you got PhpED installed. |

Thanks for your comments plunplay and Dmitri. I have tracked down the problem and fixed it but have not had the opportunity to re-install PHPED to see if that is what caused it. Essentially, the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.css "Content Type" had been changed from "text/css" to "text/plain". This meant that any local file which called required css failed to render. Changing it back fixed the problem. Currently I am reconfiguring the machine on which it occurred. As soon as that is done I will re-install PHPED and report back.
