feature "Quick Open File" is too slow

My project has a lot of files ( more than ten thousand ).

When I use "Quick Open File" (Ctrl+Shift+N) it will very lag while typing search string.

It will be great if phpED will do something to improve search performance. ( Such as cache or indexed data )

This feature is more important when project has more file.

But more file in project make this feature more slow.

I agree, come there to complain about that.

Upgraded from PhpEd 9 to 12 today, and that feature is horrible slow, you cant even see what you have typed. PhpEd 9 doesnt have this issue.

I have 6,000 files in my project.

I'm not even sure it works. My PhpED 12 hangs for a good 30 seconds (as in the Windows message 'NuSphere IDE is not responding')) then cancels the dialog, goes back to the currently open document and whatever I typed as a search appears in the document.

I work mostly with Magento so my projects have upwards from 14,000 files each. Fortunately I don't use that feature often, but I might do if it worked.

Exactly the same thing here.

Upgraded from v10 to v12, project with 10.000 files. Quick File Open essentially became unusable. Downgraded to v10 and don't think will ever upgrade (i.e., will not pay).

PHPEd becoming a bloatware. Congrats to dev team.

There is no way that this is working the way NuSphere intended, so I reported it as a bug earlier today. The problem appears to be quite reproducable so hopefully they will be able to fix it quickly.

@plugnplay

Have you heard anything back from NuSphere - did they acknowledge the problem?

What did you do in the meantime, downgraded?

I did a load of testing on 19-Jan and sent them a detailed overview. I found the problem was easy to reproduce with all projects that contained a large number of files, generally over around 4-5000 although it was a little inconsistent. They responded to ask if I was using the latest version of PhpED, to which I replied that I was.

Then yesterday they asked if I wanted to be involved in the beta testing program. I haven't responded yet (end of month is always busiest for me), but shall do so now.

So they seem to be acknowledging the problem Smile

Currently I'm still using v12; I normally don't use quick-open files so it doesn't cause me a big issue, although I would use it if it both worked and was fast.

I've tested a beta version of PhpED and found there to be a very significant improvement with this feature. I'm not sure when that is due to be released (might be other things that need further testing/refinement) but hopefully soon. Smile
