How to use WAMP server with PhpED? |
|
Hi,
I am able to sucessfully use WAMP in my home test environment when developing from home. First download and install wamp32 - even if you have a 64 bit system - the reason is many of the advanced extensions (ie, apc / uploadprogress to name a few) have very poor support for their 64 bit extensions. Test that the environment is set up correctly by navigating to http://localhost/. I personally choose to create aliases on the projects I am working on, ie local.domainname.com.au lets me review / test the work i am doing locally on my development machine. There are plenty of guides out, this once should be able to get you started - .Second, just install phped and start up a new workspace and project. In the project wizard, select the option that states 'the project is run on this machine'. Phped will detect that you are running wamp, ask you to stop it, make the changes necessary for debugger and ask you to start it up again. YOu should now have a functioning local debugging environment. I suggest using online backup solutions. I have set my development environment in a dropbox account - free 2gig - so as soon as I alter source code on my project, the changes are synched immediately to the cloud. With regards to debugger extensions, there is a firefox alternatives but they are pretty old, see http://teethgrinder.co.uk/perm.php?a=NuSphere-PHPeD-firefox-debug-toolbar and https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/dbgbar/. Not sure if they work as they are so old, if find it much quicker to write you own little debugging function that does everything you might need, the phped debugger is useful when you are tracing variables through loops etc but is actually pretty time consuming to step through scripts to get the var/arr/obj you want to debug. Hope I was a small help. |

The Firefox extension worked fine with PhpED 8.1, and I think there'll be no problem with PhpED 9.0. The extension doesn't do any magic, so I guess it was just not necessary to update it - it just works. Cheers, Jan |
