For years I have been using PHPEd 4.6 (I had an earlier version before that one too). I could position the cursor on a function name in my code, press F1 and be taken straight to the right page in the manual.

I decided it was time to upgrade and now have version 8.1. Now when I press F1 (or Ctl-F1) all it does is take me to the PHP manual and I then have to enter the function name in the index search. This is not my idea of an upgrade. Crying or Very sad

Just because yours does that, best not to assume that everyone else's does Wink

The context sensitive help in my PhpED works fust fine, as long as my cursor is on a PHP keyword or something else that help is available for. If my cursor is not on a searchable word, F1 does nothing.

Have a look in Settings > IDE > Help > Attached Manuals and ensure they are ticked. In a normal PhpED you should see 15 manuals listed there.

I could not see a setting to define F1 functionality anywhere, so I assume it is built-in. Maybe ensure you do not have F1 assigned, in case that overrides the built-in functionality.

For your own functions CodeInsight should show automatically at various times but you can force it to appear by positinioning your cursor in the function brackets and press ctrl+shift+space.

Thanks for reply.

I checked IDE Help settings. 17 manuals and all ticked. No problems with CodeInsight.

Did some extra testing. F1 works perfectly in HTML and JS scripts. Perhaps I have a dodgy php chm file?

I'm still on 8108 and haven't tried 8115. I'll update and confirm if it still works and if I end up with a couple of extra manuals.

Try submitting a support ticket at http://shop.nusphere.com/contact_us/

NuSphere don't always check the forums (they have an occasional go through them) but their support is normally fast.

Retired (can't claim expenses) now so I am using the Personal version. No support with this one.

I downloaded another copy of php_manual_en.chm frpm php.net to replace the one supplied with PHPEd.

It works OK now. Problem solved.
