Joomla component / module development using PHPEd |
|
Hi,
I was looking for the module / component development walkthrough for joomla using PhpED . I have read this one already: http://www.nusphere.com/kb/php_joomla/index.htm which works great . but the rest of the document I could never find. I kinda trails off like this: In this tutorial you learned about the setup needed in NuSphere PHP IDE to start the development with Joomla. Ben is going to continue this tutorial and cover the following topics: Template Development Walkthrough Module Development Walkthrough Component Development Walkthrough Mambot Development Walkthrough So did Mr. Ben ever managed to finish those walk through ? It would be good to find those tutorials. Regards, SK |

Whilst the various development environments like PhpED and Eclipse have many differences, I find that once you get into the coding side of things, the IDE becomes a tool; it is more important to have guides for the web application side of things rather than the development environment.
You might find a Joomla specific book would be a good choice, even if it does not mention PhpED and that could be why Ben never finished his guide. Also bear in mind the recent release of Joomla 1.6 with many new features, so Ben's guide from 2009 would have possibly been a bit out of date anyway. Joomla themselves have a lot of documentation and support on their web site in the Documentation Wiki and Documentation Forum. http://docs.joomla.org/ http://forum.joomla.org/viewforum.php?f=303 You will find other PhpED users in the Joomla Forum. Maybe someone out there reading this forum can mention some good Joomla development books? I've seen the Official Joomla! Book but that is more admin/config rather than development. |
