is there a way to enable file attribute icons in the workspace file navigator?

i would like to see if a file is writeprotected or not without selecting the file and go to properties.

such an icon would help me A LOT to determine which files are checked out in perforce without using the perfoce tool.

I am afraid it is not possible now, but it would be nice.

Unfortunately, the only way to show overlay icons for read-only files right now is to enable CVS support in the project options.
See "Source control" dropdown in "Project Properties" dialog.

As a side effect commands to work with CVS will be shown in the context menu.
