Strings are getting "auto" help I don't want.

I just installed the Nusphere editor/debugger (windows XP). When stepping through code, I notice that the tool is adding escape characters to variable contents where I don't want them. I noticed a reference to some string processing tool that will treat strings as PHP strings or not.

Where do I make this adjustment? Can't find any reference to it in the built in help.

Thanks

The debugger does not modify the content of the variables.
If you have unwanted quotes in the content etc then either you have magic quotes enabled (and they are actually in the content) or you have "View strings in PHP format enabled (or disabled, can't recall from my head) and you have to toggle that one. This is just a way of showing string to the user. You find the option by right-clicking in one of the watch windows (watch, globals, locals).
