It would be nice if I could insert a timestamp
in the code - that's handy to indicate a method
was changed.

Thank you...

why not to use source control systems like svn? it would track all the changes you do to the code with date/time stamps and complete snapshots.

I consider source control *overkill* for small/medium sized projects.
Insert date is just nice-to-have which I have found very usefull while using other editors.

I used to think exactly like you about that. Practice and experience has changed my mind however. Subversion only adds minor overhead and the advantages compared to not having it are endless. Especially having all previous versions of your source available etc...
I create a separate trunk for each large project, but all my smaller projects go into a subdirectory of a single trunk. Adding a new project is 2 seconds work.

That being said, more extended possibilities for the code templates is something I would like myself. It would be nice if a set of variables could be implemented.
Like for example %selected% (which would represent the current selection) and your %timestamp% or something. You could then create a code template just containing %timestamp% for example.

I haven't used Subversion yet but thanks to Blizz I'll give it a try.

I´m picking this up because that´s exactly what i need too.
I am using CVS system, but when adding comments to some piece of code, it would be VERY helpful to just press a keyboard shortcut to insert a human readable timestamp, just like you can insert GUID right now with Editor-Shortcuts.

please consider this for your next release Rolling Eyes

thx in advance

I would like to see this as well.

I use Subversion on one project, but I keep plenty of notes inside the code, and I currently type in the date and time by hand (after looking it up!)

Yes, the changes are in Subversion, but this keeps inline comments in a more useful state.
