Is there any chance to set up the ctrl+shift +up/down arrow to select the whole text until next empty line?

Another thing will be if can you make the caret movement on column remember the column it was on above/below line.

I whould like to be so if I type some text on a line, and hit down arrow, to be taken to same column it was when I started typing.
If I am on the end of a long line and press arrow down, I whould like that if there are some short lines below, then a new long line, the caret to be placed on same column it was in that long line above.

In other words only mouse click, left arrow, right arrow and home, end, page up, page down keys to change column value.

P.S. You can check onthi behaviour on TextPad application and is great for editing.
