A few pre-purchase questions.

1. How often does a new release come out and about when do you think the next version will be released?

2. Is there any way to try out the standard version without any of the professional only options shown? I've seen the comparison between the two, but I'd like to make sure that I wouldn't be missing anything I need with the standard edition.
