FTP-Based Project Root

I am coming from Zend Studio. It allows me to have an FTP folder on a remote server as a project root. I maintain several small sites and have other sites I need to edit quickly at times, but those times are infrequent. For most of the sites, keeping local copies and publishing changes is unnecessary and a general pita. The functionality in ZS allows me to open a project, it populates all the files in the remote tree as they are accessed and it also parses all files in the project for intellisense and all that. Makes life real easy.

Is there any way that I can just create projects that have an FTP site as the project base and save only the project? I don't want to have to publish. I want to do ctrl-s and save a remote file just like any other doc in any other program. Is this possible in PhpEd?

Thanks!

As far as I know it is not (yet) possible to use an FTP folder as project root.

My suggestion would be to set up your project with a local root, and also configure an FTP or SFTP account. And then get into the habit of saving you files using SHIFT+CTRL+S instead of the normal CTRL+S. The effect of SHIFT+CTRL+S is a local save plus an upload the remote server.

This is not exactly what you want, but it may be workable nonetheless Wink
