Working with testing and live servers

I bought a copy of PhpEd a while ago and have been very pleased with it while I have been working with my local XAMPP (Apache, MySQL etc) setup. I have come from a DreamWeaver background where it is possible to configure two sets of servers in you design environment, though, a test server (usually local) and a live server. When you want to upload/sync files you can simply tell it which server to use, like changing the points on a railway to change which track is taken.

I have found this very convenient after I have developed and tested some code locally, I can easily change the points and upload to the live server.

Is there some way to set PhpEd up to work in a similar way?

The problem I have run up against when I have tried is that it appears I can only have one "remote" server and I have to use this for my XAMPP local test server. It looks like I would have to change this to take the live remote server settings before doing an upload when I want to target the live server.

You could also opt for a "test" and a "live" project. They can both point to identical source files, but the remote server settings are different.
Depending on what you want to do you just activate the correct one. You can just put them both in a single workspace.

Nifty idea.

Thanks.

This is exactly what I do too -- a local and remote project in the same workspace. The project and SFTP account settings for the two projects are identical, except for the remote server and DBG mapping settings. Very Happy
