background search is feature which can safe time. I'm working on large project, and when I want to search in whole project it takes about 2 minutes and this is time when I want use for programming not for waiting.

cycle search, not only forward and backward... This can be useful when I want to know if some phrase is in document anywhere.

thanks

Indeed, a modeless search is very useful.

How does the Global Scope option not already fulfill this need?

OK. Yes, it does. But if I have preset "forward search" (just because it's natural in most cases), I would have to change my setting in search window every time when I want to know if some phrase is in document anywhere.

Maybe it is not so clear from this. But cyclic search is included in almost all editors and viewers (and not only for developers). People get simply accustomed to it. What's more it is really easy feature, which takes no time to develop.

(but background search is much more important for me)

So would this be something like in Word, where if it doesn't find the match by the end of the document, it asks if you want to continue searching from the beginning?

Yes something like that. But I think that little more better behavior is like in Firefox.

If it doesn't find the match by the end of the document, it automatically start searching from the beginning and show some icon in status bar. (This is less annoying.)

But both behaviors are much more better than nothing.
