I updated my IDE v5.0 to the latest build (5029). I am using windowz xp professional. Now, every time it starts or tries to call the Debugger I receive a popup error message that says

Failed to load php debugger client library
Please reinstall the product.

All was fine before this upgrade. Can you shed any light on this? Thanks.

I suspect you are using IIS or Apache when you get this error. If so, you are getting the error because the new version of PhpED uses a new debugger library, and your PHP still has the old one installed. You simply need to copy to the new library for your PHP version, e.g. php_dbg.dll-5.2.x, from the PhpED installation folder to your PHP extensions folder, and restart your web server.

no, the problem is caused by DbgListener. Please check if you have two copies of PhpED installed. In this case, to switch between them you have to run register.bat in phped\debugger\ subdirectory each time you want to switch to the version installed in that path. Please note, that you have to run register.bat by ADMINISTRATOR or under a user account that is listed in ADMINISTRATORS group. Alternatively you may re-instrall the software as suggested.

There is only 1 copy installed and I have reinstalled three times. I am also using or at least attempting to use TechPlatform-5.0-Win32 and have reinstalled it three times also. I have no other copies of anything running.

I'd recommend you to check if all COM-related services are started. Also it may make sense to check 3rd party software you recently installed or updated. We got one report stated that an antivirus software prevented DbgListener from being loaded by the IDE.

I have no doubts, but for sure we did not change anything that would cause such problems, or we would get many 1000s reports like this...

It works with the build that is 2 builds before this one. but it breaks on the build before the current one.

Well, please try to install the build that "works" and let me know if it works and please check version of dbglistener.exe
