I've installed PHP Express 1.4.1 on Apache 1.3, PHP 4.3.0. It seems to be installed correctly and it loads fine, but on the configuration phpexpress() stuff, the On button is greyed out and I can see no indication why. It runs fine on Apache 2, PHP 5.1.1. In both cases I believe PHP is installed as a module.

phpinfo() output:
Code:
NuSphere PhpExpress

phpexpress() output:

First of all, are you serious about running php 4.3.0? or it's just a joke? I'd highly recommend you to think about 4.3.9 or higher.
Regarding greyed out On, are you running apache as a Windows NT service or as a regular application from the command line? Latter one is not recommended. Please use services.

It is running as a service. Yes, it is 4.3.0 and I know, it's painful, especially as I'd been writing PHP5 exclusively since PhpEd supported it. However, an application I am involved in writing requires it work with 4.3.0 or newer, because some Linux distribution like Debian stable is so slow I think, at least when the requirements were defined about a year ago. I really hope we get fresher meat when we start on 2.0!

If it runs as a service and option is still grayed out, please check if this service is started under SYSTEM account, not under a real user one. Also, please make sure that no other applications that you might have run, are already using php with phpexpress enabled.

It is running for the SYSTEM account according to task manager and I can't think why any other application would be using it. Certainly no other PHP scripts are executing.
