Can't Get Compatible PHP version to work

After spending half a day discovering that in higher PHP versions <? is no longer a valid php delimiter but the full <?php is required,
I spend the rest of the day trying to get the debugger to work. I have Apache 2.2.4 running fine with
PHP 5.2.1 but I don't believe the debugger is yet compatible with PHP 5.2.1. When I try to downgrade to
lower PHP versions, they don't seem to work at all. I have a trial version of PHPED and I'm racing to see if I will ever get to evaluate the debugger. Oh yeah, I was trying to get it running to help me deal with some horrible code that
jumps all over the place. I figured it would be great at helping me chase it.

Let me ask what the most likely set of Apache and PHP Versions (on Win32) would I likely be able
to get running that would be compatible with the PHPED debugger?

Pardon me while I search and replace a couple of hundred <?'s with <?php's

Thanks.

I think it's still a valid delimiter. You may want to check if short_open_tag = On in your php.ini (and in phpinfo() output)

Debugger dbg 3.1.9 is compatible with php 5.2.1

we have no restrictions other than specified in readmes. You need php 4.3.0 or higher and any apache that will work with it.
Php5.2.1 is supported and apache 2.2.4 too.
You will need to install debugger, please proceed with FAQ forum posts related to debugger installation and troubleshooting. Then let know if you still get a problem.
