It'd be extremely helpful if the operation of the Settings window (and other, similar windows, such as the command options window) were modernized to be non-modal. That way, as we go through and make changes, we could see their effect immediately without having to first close the window. This would be a huge time- and click-saver in many situations, such as when customizing the appearance of the IDE.
