If I try to connect to my localhost MySQL database from PHPed.

Using MySql 5.0.37
PhpEd 5.2 build 19 (the latest)

The error message is

1521 - Client does not support authentication protocol requested by the server; consider upgrading MySQL client
(you need to upgrade libmySQL.lib in C:\Program Files\nusphere\phped directory to version 4.1 or higher)

This is a well known situation. I noted that when I upgraded to the latest PHPed version it upgraded the libmySQL.lib file as well.
I think the solution is to copy my libmySQL.lib file from my local Mysql installation to the PHPed directory.

But why is PHPed 5.2 not using the latest version?

because of license restrictions imposed by MySQL AB.
Since version 4.1 their client library can't be distributed with commercial software.
So we can't disribute it but you can download it from their site yourself.

So in order to get it to work, I will have to finde the dll file somewhere else and copy that into the nusphere/phped/ directory.

Right?
