Bitdefender slows down srv.exe?

My Srv.exe, version 4.6.1.4625, Windows, seems to behave very erratically.
At times it can take minutes for it to complete a request for a page. Then it regains its speed again for a while only to get very slow again a while later.
I have 768MB Ram on a P4 3.2 GHZ system. All else seems to run fine.
The symptom is not PHPEd but can also be seen from a webbrowser when dircecting it to the srv.exe port.
Pages come fine for a while, then it sort of hangs etc...

It's known problem that happens when NIS is installed. NIS has some web-content filtering routines and they may trigger and stop from obtaining further content until certain point reached. BTW, stopping NIS firewall won't help, only full stop resolves the problem.
If that's the case, please contact Symantec .
If you have no Symantec network related software, check your firewall anyway.

Hi Dimitri!

You were right. My BitDefender Anti Virus V10 was interferring with srv.exe. I had stopped the application but that was not enough, it actually must be un-installed to get back to a normally running srv.exe
So somewhere there is an issue with srv.exe and certain anti virus applications. Any idea if this issue can be resolved by changes in srv.exe??

Cheers!

TE

Srv.exe is not doing something special to get too much attention from an AV software. But a) it runs php.exe (another process from the AV perspectives) b) responds with HTML content on its TCP/IP port (javascript and activeX can be watched there).
So, I think you have to adjust AV settings if possible to make it more friendly to Srv.
