I have two tabs on the right side of my screen, both are set to "auto hide": Code Explorer first and Workspace below.

If I open the Workspace tab and pin it, then later unpin it, it moves BEFORE Code Explorer. I would like them to stay in the order I placed them.

This occured even with "Freeze docked windows" enabled.

It works a bit differently. When you un-pin a tab, it gets the topmost (or the rightmost) position because it's "recently used GUI element".

But f I use a auto-hide tab without pining it, it won't get the topmost position even if it's the "recently used GUI element", right?

I just want to say that the current behavior is not the one I expected/would like.

right, because it would make a big mess then

Regarding pin-unpin sequence, you can see that tab (side-bar) disappears while window is pinned leaving space for the others.
When this tab (side-bar) gets back it always gets the topmost position.
