dbg/dbg-2.11.32/dbg_cmd.c: In function 'dbg_get_context_sym_table':
dbg/dbg-2.11.32/dbg_cmd.c:575: error: invalid lvalue in assignment
make: *** [dbg_cmd.lo] Error 1

Running on a fresh install of Fedora 4 (not a test release). All PHP packages (including php-devel) are installed.

It seems that this is a common problem with GCC4. A lot of apps fail compilation with similar error messages. The are simple little patches for some apps that work.

Commenting out the above error out produces similar errors in different places:

dbg_net.c:179: error: invalid lvalue in assignment
dbg_net.c:197: error: invalid lvalue in assignment
dbg_net.c:240: error: invalid lvalue in assignment
dbg_net.c:245: error: invalid lvalue in assignment
..........

We'll try to incorporate a fix into next release of debugger. For now, please try to use GCC3.

any word on when this will be?

Also, I'd love to buy the commercial version, but emails to dd[at]cron.ru ([at] replaced with @ of course) and dd[at]www.php-debugger.com both bounce.

Is this possible?

it's me who was behind dd[at]cron[dot]ru address.

You may use either free one 2.11 or commercial one 2.18. Latter one is a part of NuSphere PHPED IDE and may not be sold (licensed) separately.

Regarding the problem itself, it's fixable and has already been fixed for 2.16/2.18 branches. Concerning 2.11, it will be fixed and published a little later, in January, as I promised before.

I'm still working on it and doing my best to get it fixed.
Yet compatibility with gcc v4 is not the only thing to be done.
