Publish to same machine

I'm sure I'm being dense here, but how do I get a project to publish to the same machine, without setting up an FTP server or suchlike? I develop in C:\work\web\project but my Apache server on the same machine looks in C:\Server\www\project - how do I publish/upload to this path, so Ctrl+Shift+S uses a normal Windows file copy?

Are there any reasons not to use C:\Server\www\project directly?
