Just noticed that all the Linux files are timestamped June 18th, while the Windows files are still May 20th.

I would imagine the dates to be similar. So this would indeed confirm the files in the z ...

Just downloaded the NuSphere-phped-5.8-debugger-ssl.zip again.

Unfortunately for me, the dbg-php-5.2.dll (I am using the Windows x86 version for php 5.2) is still 3.6.11.

OK, I see. My guess is that a wrong dll version found its way into the zip file.

I encounter the same problem, so I think there is a little more to it. The debugger icon next to the clock clearly mentions it is version 3.8. However, PHPEd 5.8 tells me I have a debugger version mis ...
