Dmitri,
I've reverted back to 10.7.4 so I'm running fine again. I think anyone with 10.8 and Macports will have this issue, just don't have the time to research it further.

The issue is not with the install or pointers to the correct file but the issue is that Apache cannot load the dbg-php-5.3.so file.

Hi Dmitri,
any chance whatsoever that you'll have a phpEd native for the Mac OSX sometime or, at least can you state that it will never happen since your workaround is Parallels?

I've figured it out but I think this is a problem in PhpED or a ... feature.
If I type a command with a semicolon at the end then nothign gets displayd, for example:
select * from foo;
